Flying Point Escapes was inspired by a road, or more specifically, the sense of change which comes for us when traveling down it.
Flying Point Road in Watermill, New York actually starts out as two separate roads that merge into one. Before coming together both look similar to many other roads in the area - lined with cedar shingled estates shrouded in privet, shaded by trees as old as the family names which are on the street signs.
However, shortly after merging the road takes a bend toward the ocean just as the expanse of Mecox Bay comes into view. As you continue the turn westward the ocean opens out to the horizon until the road finds it’s end at a beach which is aptly named “The Cut” where the bay connects with the ocean.
Even after driving down that road hundreds of times it still never fails to provide a sense of gratitude and presence surrounded by the convergence of so much natural and manmade beauty.
It is this sense of presence, gratitude and transformation brought about by not just a place, but a journey which we hope to impart on everyone who allows us to build their escape. Our mission is to deliver your own Flying Point.
